Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
One minute I’m reading Jennifer Lauck’s blog (helpfully sent to me by a reader), and the next minute I’m signing up for Jennifer’s memoir-writing workshop in March. I’m already really looking forward to it. It’s pretty remarkable that I have as successful of a writing career as I do considering I have absolutely zero formal training. Wasn’t an English major. Never been to a writing workshop. Took only one Communications class is college, and it wasn’t journalism. Sure I went to Columbia Publishing Course, but that wasn’t about writing, it was about publishing. The fact that I’m going to my first writing workshop after signing a book contract says something about my style, although I’m not sure what. Perhaps by the time I’m in my 80s I’ll be diagramming sentences.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

Writing courses are optional for being a good writer.
Writing is not. And you’ve done plenty!

I agree, writing courses teach nothing about being a great writer! You have it or you don’t, my workshop better not be a writing course, I’ll slit my throat first! It’s not about “enlish basics,” but rather, how to get into that God space with brilliant speed, clarity and confidence! I have a little experience, I’m going to pass it on and take you there (and bring you back so you can do your thing better!!) I am so happy you are coming!
