I’ve always had a fondness for Pink and am not ashamed to admit that I have all her albums. (Then again, when have I ever been ashamed to admit I have a lot of pop music in my collection?) It’s been interesting to watch her getting attention for her increasingly political songs, even as she walks that line of being a fluffy pop star. Her new song Dear Mr President is pretty awesome, and even more awesome is seeing her teenaged fans mouth along to the words, “What do you feel when you see all the homeless on the street? Who do you pray for at night before you go to sleep?” Watch the vid.
Not only does she do politics, she does culture critique, too. This video is also entertaining — it’s Pink talking about and then performing her song, “Stupid Girls.” If you haven’t seen the original “Stupid Girls” video, you must watch it because it’s hilarious.
Pink’s new album is pretty good — but I’m really excited for Christina Aguilera’s new one (coming later this year?) and Justin Timberlake’s, which is supposedly being worked on. I like my pop music political, but I also just like it stupid.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

Even though it took me awhile to admit it, I adore Pink too. While I love “Stupid Girls” and “Dear Mr. President” for the statement she’s making, I can’t help but blast “U + Ur Hand” every time it comes on. Love it, love it, love it.
“At the bar we don’t wait cuz we know them….at the bar, six shots just beginning…” I SO want to go out with her on a Saturday night.

Please tell me you’ve listened to Mariah Carey’s The Emancipation of Mimi? It may be a little R&B for your tastes…but if you can handle some of Christina Aguilera’s more ballad-y songs I would think you would like this…
