Native Seattleites have this built-in weather guilt. Whenever it’s nice out, there’s this constant needling of “ohmigod, I must make the most of this gorgeous day, I must get outside, it’s criminal if I don’t, I won’t forgive myself next winter if I let this day slip by,” etc.
This weekend was the unofficial first weekend of spring in the northwest, with sunshine and temperatures up near 70. By pure coincidence, Andreas and I had a family trip to the Oregon Coast planned, and I was able to fully enjoy the sunny days to the best of my abilities. Yesterday, our familial visit completed, we went for a 5 mile hike to the top of a low coastal mountain, and then parked out on a beach for a while. I hooped, Andreas read, we both got the mild pink sunburns that Northwesterners get without fail every spring. We totally conquered that sunny day. I will more post pictures soon. For now, you only get this one:

Tonight, I think I’ll hang the hammock in the back yard.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

“ohmigod, I must make the most of this gorgeous day, I must get outside, …”
Same thing here in Vancouver. People make it as an excuse to leave the office early, too!
