It was recently revealed that Seattle’s Capitol Hill shootings were the result of a premeditated attack against the rave community. According to this article, “the report suggests that rather than the murders being random, Huff sought out ravers as his victims. ‘He clearly targeted, stalked, hunted the rave community.’”
It’s pretty fucked up to hear the panel of experts confirm that “Clearly, the rave community was a scapegoat.” This has been true for many years in many ways, but usually there’s not a psychotic killer and six dead ravers involved.
That said, there’s an awesome memorial project in the works — a temple inspired by Burning Man’s David Best. As is often the case with memorials and labors of love, they need your support! If you’ve ever been a happy freak in a temporary autonomous zone that you thought was safe, this memorial is important. You can read more about why over here. Please consider donating money or, if you’re in Seattle, time.
