Stupid Blue Angels. There’s nothing like having a nice relaxing day at home … with the sound of war planes rattling the walls. Awful. AWFUL!
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

Argh, Seafair.
I love that you called them “war planes” though.

The summer my son was 2 years old we lived in the Seward Park neighborhood. I would shake my fist at the sky and wonder if any of those pilots had children and didn’t they know this was NAP TIME?

They were screaming overhead while I was getting a massage earlier (how un-relaxing), and while I was getting lucky even earlier (how un-sexy.) My dog hides in the basement when they’re flying. They cost millions of dollars a year, all to promote the war machine, flag-waving, and military recruitment. Gag. I must admit, though, that when I was a kid, I wanted to be a Blue Angels pilot (don’t tell anyone.)
I think it’s funny that “Dr. Dave” infers that you must hate America because you don’t like the Blue Angels. How simple-minded.

Dawn, I think dr. dave forgot his “;)” at the end of his post.

Ah. I wondered if you knew him and he was kidding. But I wrote a post about the Blue Angels a couple years ago, and got all kinds of “you must hate America” emails & comments about it (of course, it was much closer to 9/11 at the time…)

You get to have fun in the Bay Area and then come home and take a nice relaxing day off from work? Nice.

Oh, thank you. I’m so glad I’m not the only one. Who hates America. Hee!

Hahaha…I wrote about the Angels when they were here in NYC this past Memorial Day. I actually went to the show because a friend was photographing them for a job (I SWEAR, I wouldn’t have gone otherwise), but they decided to fly over my apartment, REALLY REALLY LOW a couple of days before (I live less than a mile from Manhattan, and they were on their way back to the airport to land.) Sory for the self-linking goodness, but the entry is here. My reaction to them (because I was inside and couldn’t see them) still makes me giggle.
As annoying and loud and pro-war as they are, I must say…they are pretty amazing to watch.

You just reminded me what it was like to work in Virginia Beach. No cell phone calls outdoors, morning productivity disrupted by low-flying F-18s. I hated those “I heart jet noise” bumper stickers. You have my sympathy.

I love it when jets fly overhead and low. especially war planes because they’re so fast. i love the rumble through my chest and reverberation in my ears. but i’m glad i don’t have to listen to it all day long. or in a desert.
