This is getting ridiculous
27Sep2006 Filed under: Geek OutWhile I was sitting here checking my morning feeds, Electrolicious just got hammered with 100 comment spams (!!!) in less than 10 minutes. I quickly adjusted my spam filters so that they started getting blocked within a couple minutes, but seriously: wow. I never did get Akismet to work with Movable Type this week. The situation is getting so bad that this may almost be reason enough to switch to WordPress. Seriously!

I’ve had Akismet installed for WordPress for less than a month, and so far it’s snagged upwards of 3000 comment spam messages, which I can then gleefully delete in one fell swoop with one click. Other friends using it report similar efficiency. Totally lovin’ it. (And no, they’re not paying me.)

Oh, that’s not it at ALL. Spam has nothing to do with readership — I’ve seen totally abandoned blogs that have ZERO readers that are blanketed in spam. It has everything to do with the fact that Livejournal blogs are spam-proof. Consider yourself very, very lucky.
