Daily affirmations of a word mercenary

Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

I especially love when it’s “Pineapple Express” like now! I call it “naked frisbee weather.” 65° and pouring. And the term Pineapple Express makes me feel like I’m a kitschy ad from the 50s with Hawaiian music in the background!

is it true that it always drizzles and never pours? Up here in the high desert the skies open up and drop rain at a rate of up to (sometimes) 4 inches in 1 hour. This followed by the smell of ozone and creosote make monsoon season my favorite time of year.

Brodie, it’s true that it most often just drizzles here — but as you can see from the weather report for today (”TONS OF RAIN”) it’s actually raining hard right now. It’s kind of exhilarating.

My wife an I are considering a move to the NW and the rain is the single thing that sorta trips up the plan. We are desert kids born and bred. I think I will love it, she thinks it might make me “S.A.D.” The fact that it drizzles makes me excited. I was on Vashon is. a few weeks back and fell.in.love.

Does it really say TONS OF RAIN?
I’m glad I’m not at Mt Rainier.
