Ariel, I was sitting at my desk, another mundane day at The Fairmont Banff Springs in Banff Alberta Canada. As ususal, to escape from the person I am at the moment to find the person who I want to be and was at one time, I google Shambhala + Salmo + festival. I always half expect to come across a moment, a memory captured by someone else that I also share. For some reason I double click and I end up in your world. For some reason, I can't stop reading about your life and your daily experiances. Thanks to you, I am not getting much work done today. I find myself alt tabbing back and fourth from my life to yours. I start to feel a little weird because I don't know you, but at the same time I figure you would not have such accessible site if you were concerned about people you don't know knowing you. So, something is just nagging at me, the feeling I know you. Then I say to myself, I just read your biography. But that is not it. As I rack my brain, I remember, it was only for a minute but I stood in your Aura. As the love of my life Shawn and I danced on top of the wooden catwalk, which I believe was at the main stage, the one that was somewhat like a treehouse only a few people could stand up there at a time, you were there with your husband. We chatted breifly about god knows what had a good laugh and at the change of the DJ's, went our separate ways with a smile, a wave and a happy Shambhala.
For whatever reason Ariel, I felt the need to let you know. Although I do not know you, your writing speaks loud and clear about who you are, your pictures of yourself, husband and friends also speak a thousand words.
I did not read the article that caused such controversy, however maybe I am meant to write to let you know that you have arrived. When you write well enough to get a rise out of people wether it is positive or negative "You have arrived" You are a brilliant and creative women and those who do not like what you say, do not have to read your text.
Well Mrs. Stallings, it is time for lunch in the staff cafe. I will meet with my girls and talk about how interesting I found your web site, I will tell them about your book release, and how it is refreshing it is to see such a well rounded and balanced life despite the lifestyle. Good luck with all of your home renovations, and with all of the things that you will be facing in the upcoming months. You can handle it all, and you will.
Warmest Regards, Maureen Kelly
P.S. Your site set up is outstanding, you have indeed inspired me to figure it out, the computer that is!

Angie, I'd thought of something similar -- the issue is that the fixture only takes these small, low-wattage bulbs. I tried popping in a a couple 75 watt bulbs and realized that oh: it only take little 40 watt sizes. DRAT!

I cant seem to log in to flickr, but here's a weird thought about your lights:

What if you actually inverted the main part and get some shades (clip on?) or different bulbs to divert/diffuse the light more?

Ariel,
I empathize! I just finished renovating my bathroom and I know exactly how weird brushing your teeth in the kitchen can seem. Our bathroom project, which we projected to take a week, actually took six. It also involved a TP war with our downstairs roommate. The top three things that got me through were: my mantra "it's almost done, it's almost done", making every dirty caulk joke I could think of, and visualizing how good the first bubble bath was going to be.
Good luck on the reno.
Namaste
Tracey
PS If you need any good caulk jokes let me know. :)
