Yay for the shortest day of the year! It all gets easier from here. While other families might have long-entrenched Christmas traditions, I’ve got solstice memories. Here’s a little tune we used to listen to this time of year at my house:
LIGHT IS RETURNING
(Charlie Murphy)
Light is returning,
Even though this is the darkest hour:
No one can hold back the dawn.
Let’s keep it burning,
Let’s keep the light of hope alive:
Make safe our journey through the storm.
One planet is turning,
Circles on her path around the sun:
Earth Mother is calling her children home.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

Solstice Sam is one of the many mythical characters that brought us holiday gifts.
