- Andreas gets home tomorrow night! I’m glad I was in NYC during most of his trip because I haven’t really started missing him something fierce until this weekend. When I got home Thursday night, I walked into our bedroom and got a blast of what I think of as the “we smell,” and had to go sniffing at his pillow and sighing. Mmm: nothing like a squeeze-n-sniff man-scented pillow.
- I start my new job on Tuesday! I’ve already been doing a little bit of work for them remotely, and I’m looking forward to actually getting into the office. As part of the three days/week commute, I’m also considering taking the plunge and trading our 24 mpg Subaru for a 50 mpg Prius. Buying a car scares me though — Dre and my technique for 7 years has been inheriting a series of vehicular cast-offs from Dre’s mom and her partner (first a Honda Civic, then a Ford Ranger, now a Subaru Legacy). The prospect of actually going and buying a car freaks me out, but a hybrid sure would be nice!
- This Wednesday is the Salon of Shame! I’m not sure why I’m mentioning this because presale tickets sold out in two hours last week (!!!), so unless you’re one of the lucky ticket holders it’s not like you can come … at least until May when we move into our new WAY LARGER space and then everyone can come! FINALLY. What a relief that will be.
* This Friday I’m going on a tour of the Lush factory in Vancouver, BC! I’ll be writing an article about it, so yesterday Amani and I went to the grand opening of the Seattle store and HOLY FUCK, that shit was crazy packed. Everyone loves Lush.

We have a Lush here in NYC but I had no idea it was such a big deal. I always thought it was a cheap NYC thing. LOL. I’ll have to go check it out.

Ooh, it certainly ain’t cheap, girl — even by NYC standards! I loves me some Lush, but they’ve priced it as a luxury line.

Cool! You’re coming to my city. I didn’t know the LUSH factory was here. Fun times.

Also, if you haven’t already tried it, I think you’d like The Naam (http://www.thenaam.com/naam/). It’s THE vegetarian restaurant in Vancouver and it’s open 24/7. I recommend the strawberry lassi, fries w/ miso gravy, thai noodles, avocado croissant melt, and cashew enchilada.

Bath bombs bath bombs bath bombs! I swear those little lumps of LUSH goodness got me thru law school. I first discovered this store in London in 1997 and have been addicted ever since…Mmmm…lucky LUSHy.

I am in the minority - I don’t get what the big, hairy deal is about Lush. I needed some shamp and conditioner the other day and thought I would get something yummy and natural there. Their stuff had basically the same ingredients as Suave. Sulfates in shampoo? Oh no they dit-int. A lot of their skinscare stuff has problematic ingredients in it, too. Some things smell good, but not that amazing. I don’t think the quality is that good either. It’s way overpriced, but not a luxury line (ie Creme de Mer).

I love Lush! I first discovered them in London, and I can still remember which one of their smells most stayed with me from the store: Karma. I brought some Karma soap home for a friends, and it left a delicious smell on many things in my suitcase. Nice surprise.
I can only imagine what a sensory experience the factory will be. I’ll look out for the article.
