Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
So hey: I’m going to Vancouver later this week. I loooove going to Canada, where the money is pretty, the shoes are fabulous, and the people are hot, smart, and have free health insurance. Also: fabulous accents!
I’m doing two readings while I’m up there, the first one on Thursday night at a Salon of Shame-like event called Teen Angst Poetry (8pm at The Annex @ 307 W. Cordova). You can get more info over here. I’m going to read something horrific from the late ’80s.
Then Friday night I’ve got an Offbeat Bride reading at Sophia Books. It’s going to be more than just a reading though — there will be hula hoops, music, an offbeat bridal fashion show, veils, and god knows what else. More info over here.
Saturday I’m probably going shoe shopping (twitch) and hopefully sticking around for an afternoon hula hoop gathering. Then it’s back over the border for me.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

Is weed really legal there? How does that work?

Whiskers: cannabis is illegal in British Columbia. This might answer a few of your questions.

Yay! I’m thrilled you’re coming to Vancouver! Looking forward to the reading… Even though I’m a complete stranger, if you need a shoe-shopping buddy, drop me a line, I’m always up for Gravity Pope and Fluevog! I need wedding shoes!

ariel, check out the hula hoops in some of the novelty shops in chinatown. they’re hidden, but you might find them tucked toward the back of the store… i wanted to take a photo for you but didn’t have a camera. i think they call them wicker exercise rings or something goofy like that. they also have kid-size ones. have a fab time. xo
