We live just to the south of Rainier Beach -- having a big dog made it hard to find a place closer to town to rent, and we had to move fast. I totally understand what you're saying; I have daily bouts of irritation/depression because I can't walk to any place but other houses from where we are, and there's not a good sense of community here (we are REALLY in suburbia; at least Rainier Beach has an identity). I can't wait until our lease is up and we can buy somewhere closer to town (probably a trailer since that's all we'll be able to afford). Dawn and I wanted to move back to Capitol Hill when we were ready to move out of Columbia City, but we couldn't (were scared) to make the transition to condo (all we could afford) so we fled for the suburbs (BI).
