So I just read about this new term: Bacn, described as “The new email food group: It’s not spam, it’s bacn. Bacn describes the things you signed up for but that still feel like clutter in your inbox: Email lists, Facebook notifications, Google alerts.”

I used to manage my bacn with Bloglines “email to RSS” feature, setting up a special RSS folder for notification emails that I wanted to see, but didn’t ever NEED to see on the same level that I need to see my personal communications.

Then I switched to Google Reader, which lacks an email to RSS feature (bah!) and so now I have a special filter and label in gmail that sends all my bacn to a Notifications label, skipping the inbox. I can see that there’s stuff there, but I only check it once or twice a day. This technique is working, but I still miss my Bloglines email system.
