Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
Today we painted. Well, first we had breakfast with our traveling musician friend Rara, and then we painted with the expert help of the fabulous Dawn.
In terms of interior decorating, Dre and I have decided to sort of divide the new place into halves. This could be interesting and/or distasterous. Dre said today, “I like to feel like I live in a yoga studio.” I said, “I like to feel like I live in a galactic space station.” I should have said “…for toddlers.”
The result of this schizm is that our bedroom is being painted the same color as our old bedroom: a lovely pale purple called “Silverberry.” Calming. Soothing. Yoga studio feeling.
Meanwhile, the livingroom/diningroom is being painted in the palette you see to your left, a combo of colors called MANDARIN! HERB GARDEN! and AURORA ORANGE. We only got the lighter orange and the green up today, and WOOOO. That shit is BRIGHT. I’m going to let it sink in and see how I like it. I wanted it to look like this, but the pale orange is a little more ORANGE!!! than the picture would suggest. We’ll see.
We’ve been moving waves of tubs up all week, unloading things and bringing the tubs back to repack. The result is that while we’re moving our furniture tomorrow, we don’t have THAT much detritus laying around the house. The stuff that’s usually the last to go was the first.

Love the colors…envious at the tubs moving ploy, but I’m always moving out of the area/state/country so it wouldn’t work for me.

I can totally relate to wanting to feel like you are living in a galactic space station, for toddlers or not.
