Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
So, our new place was supposed to close a week ago Friday. We didn’t expect that they’d make that date, and they didn’t. On Wednesday, we showed up at 8:30 for a walkthrough, having been told the conversion was “almost done.” Uh, they were nowhere near done, but they said “We’re working overtime to make sure we’re done for a Friday closing.”
It became clear yesterday that a Friday closing wasn’t going to happen, but they were supposedly finished and ready for us to do our “final walkthrough” in the evening.
We showed up for the “final walkthrough” and found the bathtub still in the livingroom and a dozen contractors running around like crazy working on stuff. *sigh* The walkthrough culminated with Dre irritably saying, “It can be Tuesday for all I care, I just don’t want to see this place until it’s actually DONE,” in response to us now having done two walkthroughs for no reason.
The selling agent then joking threatened to kill Dre for letting the contractors hear him say something about Tuesday (apparently one of them actually said, “So we have until Tuesday now?”). The agent was kidding, but I still don’t think he’s in any place to go admonishing (threatening?) us when they’re the ones running 10 days behind and wasting our time on pointless walkthroughs. *sigh*
Luckily we don’t have to be out of our house until next Monday so we’ve got time to move … but still, this process is getting tiresome. Our agent looked like she was about ready to pull out a steak knife and hurt someone.

I totally remember that awful waiting game … we had to wait almost 2 months to close on your house, but it was because the seller had to have the entire septic system rebuilt before we could take posession.
That being said, I still find the whole real estate game to be a huge pain in the ass.

Omg, I don’t know why I typed ‘your house’. I totally meant OUR house.
I’m not a stalker or anything. Really.
