Ever since Dre and I moved back into the gayborhood where we can walk to get coffee (him) or tea (me), we’ve suddenly found ourselves in need of more commuter mugs. I can’t STAND the idea of regularly getting tea in a to-go cup, but the idea of actually buying one makes me shiver. You’d think that since both Andreas and I work in marketing we’d have no shortage of free corporate shwaggy commuter mugs … but somehow we only have one between the two of us. Odd.
But! I know many of my friends, dotcom colleagues, and readers work for companies with great shwag commuter mugs, so I beg of you: could you share one with me? It’s win/win: I get a rotating supply of drinking containers, you get me walking around with your company’s shwag, and the world has less trash. Yay!

Why don’t you just buy one? What’s scary about that?

I have a proposition for you. If you send me a full-on face shot (facing the camera, 640×480 pixels, color), I will send you a very special travel mug.

Yeah, I don’t see what’s so scary about it .. you get to pick the pretty cup you want and you don’t look like a corporate hag. Win/win!

Just to clarify: I’m not shivering because it’s scary, but rather because it feels like a waste considering how many bajillions of corporate schwag mugs are out there. It’s like buying plastic bags or something.
Also, in terms of looking like a corporate hag: it’s about 10 years too late for that.

If you email me your address, I’ll send you a Wrox insulated travel mug. I work for the publisher, and marketing gave us one, and it’s just getting dusty in my office, so I’ll be happy to share it.

Want a fun idea? Call a few promotional companies that put logos on travel mugs or pens or whatever. Tell them you are thinking of ordering a bunch for your company and you’d like a sample. They are happy to send you a few. Do this a few times and you’ll have a dozen (free!) mugs before you know it.
Sounds shady, I know, but sometimes you just have to do what you have to do.
Good luck!
