Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
Below, please find selections from one of the best emails I have ever received from a friend. Ever. It touches on unicorns, Mad Max, ufos, iphones, the afterlife, and the mayan calendar. The subject line was the title of this post (”It’s night, and stuff”) and yes: I got permission to post this.
from what i can tell, i’m exceedingly high right now. in case things
go horribly wrong within this email before it’s Sent, my humblest
apologies.- wearing a blue terrycloth robe. a most excellent garment in the
world for the hanging outs in.- watched “Beyond Thunderdome” earlier this evening. this is like 8th
time or so over the course of my life. the leader in films i watch
again and again, however, is “Bladerunner”. do you have one or ones?- too often i mix up the poison and the remedy.
- to me, unicorns are the symbol of ancient order, of magic so old
none remember save in dreams. i truly mean this. the fact that
they’ve come into vogue again for however long never ceases to delight
me.- i’ve seen UFOs twice in my life, and a third time (in 1993) i saw
physical evidence that they were nearby. the US Army may have been
involved in some way, but i have no real proof.- do you have any thoughts about the afterlife, or the nature of
souls? if you like talking about such things, i’d love to do so with
you sometime.- do you have any slides or VHS or 8mm film that needs to be
transferred to DVD? cause i like doing that sort of thing.- now that it’s settled in, what do you think of the iphone?
- do you have any opinion on 2012, the so-called beginning of the
Sixth World as according to the Mayan calendar? subculture #whatever
is starting to get excited…

excellent.
i should probably denote which of my blog posts have been written while high. there is a very high correlation between how high i was and how much other people liked them.

I think that my favorite part of this email (although, there are many and it is a close call) is the fact that “send” is capitalized. In light of what follows, it seems appropriate.

i know someone who just mentioned they have a ton (like, boxes full) of 8mm and 16mm films, like random old films they used in film school classes or something. if your friend is interested, e-me. the films are in SF, but could make their way north.
