Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
Can you believe we’re STILL waiting for our house to close? (And STILL paying our mortgage on it.) Our buyers have had a hell of a time getting their financing (I guess American banks don’t like dealing with European buyers) and every week it’s supposed to happen “this week” and every week it doesn’t.
Supposedly this is the week it’s really happening. I sure hope so, because we’ve now invested 7 weeks in waiting. Lame.
**UPDATE: We finally closed on Tues, 10/9! YAY! Our original closing date was supposed to be Friday, 9/14, but whatever: WE’RE CLOSED.**

Are they living in it and paying you rent? I can’t remember if you mentioned that. We paid rent to our sellers because we couldn’t close due to court issues on their side. It all turned out fine.

I think that’s a great idea - get them to move in and pay you rent. They had planned to be in by now anyway, no doubt.

That’s what you get for dealing with those cheese-eating surrender monkeys
Seriously, very stressful position to be in. Not that you want to do this, but do you get to keep their earnest money or anything else if the deal falls through?

I just sold one house and bought another, so I get the stress you are feeling. Here’s some unsolicited advice. Perhaps it is time to have them
a. close the sale or
b. move in and pay rent
If they can’t manage a OR b, then it might be time to pull the plug on the escrow.
