Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
It’s a new year, and yesterday marked a whole bunch of things that I want to write about and don’t have the time to tackle just yet … but will be writing about soon. For now, teasers:
• January 1st, 2008 was my and Dre’s ten year anniversary. Or rather, kissaversary. We don’t really recognize our wedding anniversary, but our falling-in-love-a-versary is a big deal to both of us and this year we celebrated with friends in a cabin up on Orcas Island. How much has happened in those ten years? What might happen in the next ten? What are our Five Secrets To A Happy Partnership™? I will tell all soon! It’s all very exciting!
• January 1st, 2008 also marked the first complete year of offbeatbride.com’s existence. I wrote about it a teeny bit on offbeatbride.com, but I’ve got much more to say about it over here. I mean, my beloved offbeat brides aren’t really interested in social media marketing strategy and advertising models, so I figure Electrolicious is the better place to write about it.
• I like to post my goals at the start of the New Year, and I’ll do it again this year, too.
… But all these things can wait. Right now I need to get settled back into my home, and muse on the fact that while we were away, something very fucked up happened very close by.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, is in bookstores now.

I was reading along all happy and then . . . that last part. That sucks. I know it’s irrational, but that would freak me out that it might happen again.
Did the woman die? If not what is her condition?

It’s horrible, Will. She was torn up so badly that she basically died on the sidewalk. 911 was called almost immediately and people rushed out to help her — you KNOW how close we are to hospitals (2 blocks to Group Health), police stations (5 blocks away on 12th), fire stations (3 blocks down Pine), etc…but she was DOA.
There are rumors that the guy was a “creepy” volunteer from the Sierra Club, where she worked. But nothing’s for sure yet, and as far as solid evidence, it’s so far being called a random attack.
More info.

It was our four year anniversary that night too. (When he asked me to be exclusive.)
Although I hold to the “kissaversary” idea, which happened Nov. 15th, people tell me this is not a valid date. Pooh-pooh on them, because now I have back-up from a credible (?) source.

wow, it was me and my husband’s ten year kissaversary too. It was a New Year’s stroke of midnight kiss and we’ve been going strong ever since. We have a first kiss in common. Cool beans.
