Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
So, I’ll be on The Today Show Wednesday morning for approximately 30 seconds (ok, maybe more like 2 minutes, but very very briefly!) talking about why I’m doing 52 Nights Unplugged and how it’s been going. There was a moment where it looked like the live segment was going to be cut completely, but instead it just got moved to the 10:00 hour — so I’ll be on sometime between 10 and 10:30. (Evidently the taped segment we did in Seattle will air twice — once between 7-7:30, and then again before my live segment after 10am.)
Also, how is it possible that I’m in a hotel room in Manhattan with no cell reception? WTF NYC! I get four bars in mom’s yurt in the woods of Bainbridge Island, and I can’t get nuthin’ in midtown? Jeez.
Update!
The full segment (both taped & in-studio interview) is now online:
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, is in bookstores now.

I like how you won’t be able to watch it because you’re going to be unplugged.
(or is it only at night and not in the morning?)

Laurel, as “52 Nights Unplugged” might suggest, it’s only at night.

How fun to be in NEW YORK and spreading the Unplugged Love! I think most people in the world need to take one day off of the screens a week. Except my parents who have never ever plugged in! Can I make them have a plugged in day, please! ?! Unplugged Day #1 for me—http://tinyurl.com/38rowt

What a great clip! I can’t wait to see the live segment. I am planning on doing an unplugged night once a week and an unplugged DAY(12 hours) once a month. I did manage to go 10 hours screen free on President’s Day….Baby steps!

So super squeal-ley for you.
So excited to see your progress too!
James and I have been doing screen-free Tuesday nights since we’ve been married and we LOVE it.
(When we realized we were playing online checkers, silently, in the same room, with each other, well, that was a problem.)

This is/was my 1st Blog that i have followed way back, many, many moons ago. I visit sporadically time to time and love Arial writings & photography…….I often share ElectroStorys with my girlfriend so she kinda familiar with you, too.
Then the other morning, I was heading out to work, flip on the tube to find a weather report when……I see YOU! I call my GF and told her to turn on her TV….. we watched the segment (Where was the pink hair?) couldn’t believe your UnPlugged story got you all the way across national television.
Now my girlfriend & I sort of know you.
Now that I sound like a Freak….
I gots2go!

Thanks for all the sweet words, everyone! And Honest Mike, re: the pink hair. It’s all about branding, mah dear. With this particular topic, I didn’t want the pink hair to distract people from my message. With other topics, the pink hair adds to what I’m saying … but with this particular story, my offbeatness wasn’t part of the plot, so the pink hair stayed back.

Oh, that’s nuts. I actually watch the Today Show with kind of embarrassing regularity, and remember hearing the “and coming up” bit about this piece but didn’t end up catching it.
Probably I had to go walk the dog.
During which time, alas, I was probably also twittering!
Sorry I missed you the first time around, glad to catch up.
