Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
I skipped writing about #7 last week because it was pretty much a few words: flew on a plane, finished Eclipse, came home, unpacked, went to bed. Booooring!
Unplugged night #8 was also pretty mellow…
I came home from work so exhausted that I passed out for two hours. Then I woke up for a bit, ate some food, packaged up some “Altar your thinking” tees, wrote a letter to a friend, and then listened to Barak Obama’s race speech. I had several friends tell me they cried through the last 10 minutes, and while I didn’t have that reaction, it is a damn good speech. I’m not especially good at sitting and listening to any sort of spoken word, so I appreciated that I had a quiet evening to sit and listen to it and mull over the ideas.
Was it cheating that Andreas played it for me on his laptop? I didn’t look at the screen, and it was functionally the same as listening to the radio … but the intarwebs were involved. I just wasn’t involved with the intarwebs.
Then I read some Schuyler’s Monster, and went back to bed. Stupid flu.
I’ve got to say, 2 months into this project … it’s getting easier, it feels better, and I’m so so happy I’m doing this.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, is in bookstores now.

technically yes, but…a moment in history that was worth the cheat?
there’s something about listening to politics that’s just really lovely, too. the boy and i didn’t have a TV back in ‘00, so we heard all of the bush/gore debates over the radio - i remember washing dishes at the same time and feeling very old skool ’50s hausfrau. it was (cough) kind of enjoyable.
