Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
How can I say this? Lately, I’ve been feeling proud of my portraits. It’s become a part of my job, and I’m really enjoy it and trying to not look like the totally clueless self-trained bumbler that I am. It’s slow going, but I feel like I’m getting better and have less results that I’m just like “oh, oops. FAIL!”
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, is in bookstores now.

Hi Ariel,
You should be proud!
What, may I ask, are you using to display the pictures in your blog?
Thanks,
J.

I’ve been lurking for a while, but your photos compelled me to post for the first time. Your photos of your cousin were just breathtaking, and the slideshow that you posted today had some beautiful shots as well. You are so talented!

Thanks so much to everyone for all the sweet words.
Lucy, most of my portraits are taken with the Canon EOS Digital Rebel I bought used on eBay, but you can always get exact specifications by looking under “Additional Information” in the right column of the Flickr page, and clicking “More properties” which will give you a page like this.

That photo of Sassafras in the raincoat with the blue wall behind is teh cute. I would put that in my office and everyone would be nice to me.
The colors and vibrancy in the pic of the girl/woman on the green grass and the multi-hued leaves is lovely.
You have every right to be proud.

These are fanTASTic! I’d forgotten that you were the one who took that gorgeous pic of Avo at Shambhala…it’s been gracing our fridge photo collage for some time now. Lovely eye you have for portraiture - something I haven’t quite mastered yet! You go girl!
