Yep - another ancient speeding ticket biting a potential zip car driver. May 2006 I was going 20 over and now in Sept 2008, I got rejected for a "major violation." Their loss. Although, after all of those harsh reviews, maybe I am better off anyway.

Zipcar blows. I had a Flexcar membership, but refused to succumb to the fascist Zipcar regime. You're better off without them. Set the Subaru free and use Budget when needed.

Yes, Zipcar has been getting worse now.

If you are late to return car on time, they charge you from $50 as a penalty. On the contrary, if you cannot use Zipcar that you reserved, Zipcar never apologies but makes you move to another place almost one mile away and give 30min money back this inconvenience. But you are already spend your time over 30min. If you complain about that, Zipcar just hung up the phone. Even worse, they shout you like "nobody will answer you." Wow. I experienced this today.

Here's the tip. If you are in this situation, you have to make phone call at least twice. Then Zipcar will offer you 25$ payback, and pay for a cab to get to another Zipcar. But you should be ready to spend at least one hour to get these benefis from Zipcar. :-)

They really don't know what is the customer service.
Terrible Zipcar.

Plus the time, paper and energy to send all of those things out is the dumbest thing about the whole company. Someone is dropping the ball on that one big time.

@B. I, too, miss Flexcar something terrible. I moved to LA 2.5 years ago and was told that you can't get along without a car. I found Flexcar and was in heaven! Between it and public transit, my man and I were very close to selling the car we owned that we weren't driving. Then the merger happened and not only did prices go up, but they took all of the cars out of our area. Without any warning, here on Monday, gone on Tuesday. They have limited the fleet in the greater Los Angeles area to two university campuses (would be great for students, if they can afford it), both of which are too far away to make even attempting to use Zipcar plausible. Sadness abounds.
