People, I am tired. This weekend Dre and I drove to Missoula for his step-mother’s memorial. 16 hours of driving round trip with 36 hours of intense life and death and babies and memorials and hot solstice sun and all the stuff that comes along with family but, like, times 10 and with some PMS thrown in.
I’m also undergoing an experiment — my beloved Sidekick 3 is dying, and I’m trying a Tmobile Dash from work for a while until I decide what I want to do next. (First person to suggest iPhone gets a kick in the nuts. I need a tactile keypad, so please shut up already about the iphone. It’s awesome for you. It’s not what I want.) It’s amazing to me how switching communication systems (ie pda/phone) impacts my emotional state. I mean yes granted: I was in an emotional place this weekend literally and figuratively and hormonally. But I couldn’t help but observe how having an unfamiliar communication system only added and amplified my emotions — CAN’T CHECK EMAIL HOW I NORMALLY DO. FREAKING OUT.
God. I’m so delicate sometimes.
I think I just need some time at home, which may not be in the cards for a while. July has me going to Boston for work, probably LA for some offbeat bride development stuff, Montana again, and then our summer camput. BUH!? I love summer, but I sure do get tired…
Again with the delicacy.
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.

my friend is also a sidekick fanatic and she just got herself a new sidekick a couple of weeks ago and loves it even more than her old one, which she didn’t think was possible. if you’ve found a phone you love, don’t switch!

I love the sidekick’s keypad and OS, but I hate the proprietary applications and ringtones, and the fact that it can’t handle syncing with my email or calendar. On my Dash, I now have completely synced gmail and gcal and have installed applications like Google Maps.
My ideal phone would probably be an iPhone with a Sidekick keypad, but I’d be happy with a Sidekick running Windows Mobile — which isn’t out of the question, given the fact that MSFT bought Danger.
I think my problem is that I want the Sidekick’s “designed for teens” ease-of-use with the grown up application options of a blackberry, iphone, or smartphone.

I’m now carrying two of the things–the iPhone (for superior reception, thank you very much AT&T) and the Treo (for superior keyboarding).

I have the HTC Tilt (branded for ATT). It’s gotta nice slide out full qwerty and runs on Windows Mobile 6.0…I love it.
It also is on the 3G network and has GPS stuff built in.

i hear you. i’m fukcing exhausted and the summer has barely even started, and i haven’t had to deal with any of the things you’re dealing with. someone suggested i try going to bed an hour earlier than i naturally would every night. i haven’t been able to do that yet - still up past midnight most nights - but it sounds like good advice.

I reeeeeeeally like Offbeat Bride. I’m a 49-y-o first time bride and your site was like some sort of oasis in the Bridal Bullshit, and has helped give me the wherewithal to do this my way. But what I really want to say is, “Again with the delicacy” is a delightful phrase and one I plan to utilize should I need to excuse any Bridezilla-like outburst on my part between now and the wedding (October). Bless you and your strong original mind, and thanks for sharing.
