… With the exception of tiny little tweaks and fiddling you probably won’t notice, this most recent Electrolicious redesign is complete! Many thanks to my beloved J.M. Dodd for rocking the redesign yet again. Haven’t you heard? Outsourcing your blog designing duties is the only way to do it. I’m a writer, for godsake. Not a designer. I leave the magic up to Jennifer, and she did amazingly, don’t you think? I would be lost (LOST!) without her.
So, here’s a little tour to what’s changed in terms of usability:
- Obviously, the Linkage posts have moved over there to the right.
- You’ll notice that there are less of both Blog and Linkage posts displaying on the main page. Like many blogs, Electrolicious had gotten a little heavy on the scroll-down. Now, you’ll usually only see about a week’s worth of posts on the main page. Luckily, you’ll notice that an old feature has been added back …
- The archive page has returned! It’s accessible from the top right of every page on Electrolicious, and also from the bottom of the main index. You’ll see that you can read through five years of wit by Category or by Month, depending on what you’re looking for.
- And speaking of looking for something, there’s also now a search field on every single page. This makes things much easier for vain friends and coworkers to search for themselves, and for misguided folks coming from google to quickly realize that while they may have found Electrolicious by searching for vagina costume, this probably isn’t actually the site they wanted to find.
- The archives weren’t the only thing to leave the main page. There’s less jibba-jabba and fewer links than there were before — none of you clicked them anyway.
- Updated bio page. Again, none of you read it, but still: it’s updated!
Enjoy the new site, and many many thanks to my beloved designer.
