Yesterday was a toughie. Didn’t eat enough and started to pay the price during the Phish show. Dre got us some apple juice, and it was crazy to feel, as I drank it, my blood sugar rising and my insanity decreasing.
Today, meanwhile, was a TOTAL FOOD SUCCESS!
Day 11
JEFB: None
Lunch: Small salad. Pear.
Dinner: Half a zuccinni made into “pasta” with our new spiral veggie slicer, some failed tomato sauce that we made in the blender that ended up being more like tomato garlic basic smoothy. Frothy. Disgusting.
Late night: Two pears to stave off an attack of gouging out my own eyeballs and eating them. I was dangerously hungry.
Day 12
JEFB: None
Lunch: Organic carrots and celery with SPROUTED HUMMOUS! I’m pretty sure that the hummous is a slight cheat on my part (the “organic spices” listed as the last ingrediant must include some salt … and what IS tahini, anyway?), but it was so good and SPROUTED! You know? It wasn’t a total cheat. For dessert: strawberries and dates with homemade almond milk. Mm! Why has it taken me so long to figure out that if I soak almonds overnight, they make fantastic milk…a little maple sugar and cinnamon in there? YUM!
Dinner: Since my friend TW is visiting, I went all out with the spiral slicer. This thing is amazing! It turns radishes into this awesome pile of petal-like super thin slices, and carrots into angel hair-thickness tangles of yum-yum. I made us a super salad, with fresh arugala and sprouted seeds and sweet pea sprouts and avo-vinagrette dressing. It was all about the presentation, with the white shock of radish petals on the side, and puffs of carrots in between rays of red bell pepper.
The entree was stuffed shiitake mushrooms with celery garnishes.
But DESSERT! I made the strawberries with almond milk and dates again, but then. BUT THEN! At TW’s suggestion, I made date milk shakes out of almond milk, maple syrup, dates, and ice. JESUS CHRIST! Out of this world.
For those wondering why I’ve subjected my poor non-cleansing friend to all this weird food, take this quote from her: “The sumptuos feast of crunchy raw fresh veggies left me stuffed, but contintuing to eat more and more until every last sprouted seed was gone. My tummy full, I can’t even think about going out dancing tonight. Too stuffed.”
Restrictive diet! I LAUGH AT YOU!

what are you doing for protein? how can you go a month sans protein? are you still able to exercise? my body would ache terribly without someway to rebuild after every workout. are you eating lots of fresh soy, legumes, or are you just suffering through it?

Read this PDF. It addresses the perceived lack of protein in a vegetable diet on one of the last pages.
And yup, I continue to work out for an hour three or four times a week, no problem. No soy is allowed on this cleanse, but I’ve been eating sprouted beans whenI can.
