Blindsided

30 Jun 2007 In: Happiness & Health

So I’ve been feeling better lately. A little more sturdy, a little less wobbly. And then I watched Bridge to Terabithia by myself and blubbered for half an hour. Perhaps not so sturdy after all.

It’s no secret that I’ve been a total distaster-face lately. I decided that what might be best for my state of mind would be to get the hell out of dodge this weekend and go camping by myself. Unplug, unwind, hang out with the dog and sit quietly for a bit. But then, gah: camping. [...]

I was five and about to miss the school bus. I had a long walk: my parents’ house was half a mile down a gravel road, which I would dutifully walk by myself. I was close to missing the bus though, and as I ran down the last bit of the dirt road, I tripped, [...]

Strangely, I’ve never put together a complete wedding photoset on Flickr. I first started using Flickr summer of 2004 as an experiment for our wedding pictures, and for a while there Flickr needed to play catch-up to be fully useful. I remember wanting to do things back in 2004 with my wedding pictures … and [...]

My eyes!

Now it’s been three weeks since my Lasik, and here’s the news: last Thursday when I flew to the Bay Area was the worst. I’d been warned that the airplane air could really dry out post-Lasik eyes, and oh my god, that is no joke. By the time the plane was landing, I was pretty [...]

In all the hubbub about, oh, you know, life threatening bike injuries, I haven’t mentioned much about my post-Lasik eyes.
I am very happy with the results. I’m experiencing the usual post-operative recovery side effects (I’ll talk more about those below), but I’m really pleased. I’ve had a few moments of confusion (falling asleep: “Did I [...]
