Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
Electrolicious will be migrating over to its new host, the ever-Blogger-lauded Dreamhost, this week. If anything looks wonky, that’s why. I’m pretty pleased with the deal I got at Dreamhost … sure it’s $8/mo instead of $15/year like dr2.net was, but it’s also 20 fucking gigs of storage space as opposed to 100 megs. I’ll [...]
For the few geeks in the house who care, I have turned off Electrolicious’ TrackBack functionality. The reason is simple: no one ever used that shit. I’ve gotten seven real TrackBacks in the last year. Compare this to hundreds and hundreds of comments. Meanwhile, I get 100 or so spam TrackBacks a day. They’re all [...]
Oh hey: I forgot to notice that I just passed my five year anniversary of blogging. Five years! As always, the first post remains for you to read and enjoy. If you ever want to kill a couple days, start at the beginning and read all the way through. I guarantee you’ll find a million [...]
… With the exception of tiny little tweaks and fiddling you probably won’t notice, this most recent Electrolicious redesign is complete! Many thanks to my beloved J.M. Dodd for rocking the redesign yet again. Haven’t you heard? Outsourcing your blog designing duties is the only way to do it. I’m a writer, for godsake. Not [...]
You may notice that things are still moving around and shifting here at Elish. The redesign is almost done, and then I’ll tell you all about how everything works and where everything is and just how much I love my designer, J.M. Dodd.
In case you hadn’t noticed, Elish is going through a redesign. I guarantee that things will be weird around here for a few days. Have patience.
Remember about a year ago when I added Adsense to Electrolicious? Well, I’ve officially declared the experiment over. I cancelled my account and removed the code. It simply didn’t pay out — Amazon affiliate stuff pays way better and (key issue) I have total control over what I put on my page. I didn’t like [...]
Yesterday I got a little overly eager and tried to install Movable Type 3.2b. BAD ARIEL! NO BISCUIT! In the process, I broke my comments. Thank God for my beloved Elicious Backend Goddess, Jennifer. She fixed it. WHEW! You can comment again.
I’m sick (and moving this weekend). Expect less posting around here until this is all over.
Hey, everyone. So it turns out that a new comment spam blocking plugin that I started using a couple days ago has been blocking WAY more comments than it should have, including lots of comments from you all. Worse, it hasn’t been telling you that your comments are blocked. Drat!
If you commented in the [...]
Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, is in bookstores now.
