Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
I forgot to ask what everyone thinks of the linkage blog. Like it? Hate it? Understand how it works? The only way to permalink linkblog posts is to click the comment link. See? I figure folks won’t be linking those little posts often.
Six Apart released Movable Type version 3.14 which should address the server-side issues being caused by comment spam. I reopened all old comments last night…and blacklist moderated my first comment spam a mere 30 minutes later! sigh… But the issue isn’t really the comment spam (mt-blacklist catches most of it), the issue was server stuff, […]
My beloved web mistress, Jennifer, is helping me transition to mySQL, so you may notice some weirdness around here for a bit. Never fear: it’s all part of the process to try to reduce some of the load on my server from the comment spam flooding in (4000+ spam comments blocked so far — jeez). […]
FYI, it looks like I’m having some server-side trouble with my comment script. I’ll let you know when it clears up.
Update: Oh, comment spammers. How difficult you make the internet. Apparently, my comment script was getting hammered so hard by spammers that my host shut the script down to keep my server from crashing. Lovely! […]

1. I made the switch: I’m using gmail as my primary email now. Crazy. I miss the mail/calendar integration of Outlook. Any suggestions? I guess I could check for firefox plugins.
2. Things may be a little wonky around here the next few days as I upgrade to mt 3.1 and get mt-blacklist back in business.
Hey all you mp3 cowboys! I’m putting together some playlists on my ipod for playing while en route to Europe and while riding on various trains all over France and Spain.
Here-in lies your challenge: I request YOUR mp3 playlist. Put together your dream playlist, then upload your mp3s somewhere (your server or mine, toots) and […]
Hey folks who’ve spent a month at a time travelling: is it worth renting a cell-phone in your destination country?
People seem to be having problems with typekey validation, so comments are open again and will remain so until I start getting comment spam or visits from trolls. (Usually these open commenting periods last for a month or so.)
