Daily affirmations of a word mercenary
I like to go places. Sometimes far (annual expat experience in France) and sometimes near (I bounce up and down the Left Coast several times a year). This is where you can read stories about my travels.
Tomorrow morning we will wake at 4:30am. We will drive from Apt to Marseille where we will check in for our flight. Then we will fly from Marseille to Frankfurt to Washington DC to Seattle. I’m excited to be going home, although I woke up before dawn this morning grinding over my most troublesome project, the one that awaits me at home like a bombed out living room: my fucking book. Damnit. I used the wedding and then the honeymoon as excuses not to work on the proposal, and once I return it’ll be “no more excuses” time. I’ve got to finish that book proposal.
Our honeymoon is winding down with a few days in Paris with our ex-pat Seattle friend Nathan and his girlfriend Natasha. We’ve been here since Wednesday and depart tomorrow, headed back down to the Tour du Bon for the “end of the harvest” party. Then we’ll drive up to Apt to spend our last day with T. and her 9 month pregnant belly. We’ll be back in Seattle Tuesday night.
A few random bits of information: 1) european mozarella is made from buffalo milk. 2) I witnessed a homeless person show down at Notre Dame. A toothless man beaned a begging woman with his dirty crutch. 3) We accidently ended up travelling first class on our night train from Madrid to Barcelona. Andreas was so uncomfortable with the luxury that he fell asleep almost immediately. 4) We have struggled constantly with doors. A door in Barcelona that you had to kick the shit out of to open. A door in Madrid that required special key pressing and wiggling. A door in Paris with its own secret access code. I look forward to seeing our door at home…the red one with the oval window; the one that you have to use both hands to get open.

Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.
