Not sure why.

Latest news on the job front: got a call from Creative Assets yesterday. I guess the woman I interviewed with (Robin) is “very excited” about me, and they’re just checking my references, and I should hear about a second interview next Wednesday. Aargh! Suspense kills me.

I’ve been listening to a lot of OutKast lately, and totally loving it. Look for their tracks on either Napster or Friskit. My personal faves are “Bombs Over Baghdad” (which is what happens when hip hoppers start eating ecstasy), “Da Art of Storytelling” (saw the video two years ago in Europe, didn’t know who it was…now I do!), and “Rosa Parks.” Damn, that’s some good shit.

So it’s 6:20 and pitch black outside…Eesh. Only three weeks till solstice, thank goodness. My idea of spending a month this winter in LA seems to have slipped by the wayside (specially since I’m thinking of leaving Lotus), so I’ll just have to work through the Seasonal Affective Disorder.

Money problem is hopefully on the verge of being solved: I went in for a job interview Tuesday (read about the job here) and absolutely ROCKED it. You know how you just sort of KNOW, after an interview? (watch me NOT get the job and then be like “Shit, I THOUGHT I knew. ;) Anyway, the work is full time in Seattle, but they seemed to think it would be totally cool if I worked in Seattle three days a week, and at home two, which is cool. The pay would be great (I’m asking for $45k/year), and I would be a REAL EMPLOYEE, not a temp, not a contracter, not a freelancer, and I’d get great benefits…health, dental, 401k, a $150/season “wellness bonus” to pay for yoga classes, gym membership, etc. My fingers are crossed.

I’m ready to leave Lotus and just need something fulfilling to take its place….I told Ray and SDG this morning that if I got this job I would be leaving the magazine, and got NO reaction. No “Oh no!” No “Oh SHIT Ariel, REALLY?” No “Woah, that sucks, what will we do?” They were just like “When?”

I’m over it and ready to have a job that allows me to learn, get paid, and offer benefits.

Speaking of lack of appropriate response, when I called Dre immediately after the interview about how well it had gone, his response was less than enthusiastic: “Do you not like Olympia? Do you need to move? Are you unhappy? I don’t want us to not live together again…”

Wait, did you hear that? That was the sound of my bubble being popped. Wheeze.

Hey there. I'm Ariel Meadow Stallings, a native Seattleite who's written my way up and down the Left Coast. Electrolicious is where I post daily randomata, but I also write for a living. My first book, Offbeat Bride, was published last year.
